I loved the card. Message inside was perfect (just like I requested) Only comment - the picture seemed too large for the card (glue showing on the side) Next time I will down size the picture. I have ordered many cards from fineartamerica and have been very pleased with the artist selection and quality of the art. Paul Cutright

St. Bakhita was born in the Darfur region of Sudan, kidnapped as a young girl and sold into slavery. She was resold several times, beaten and physically mutilated. She was eventually sold to an Italian consul in 1883 who took her to Italy and gave her away to his friend Augusto Michieli. She became a babysitter to his children and accompanied them to their school, the Institute of the Catechumnes, run by the Canossian Sisters in Venice. She felt drawn to the Catholic church and became baptized and confirmed in 1890. When Michieli wanted to take Josephine back to Africa, she refused and the Sisters intervened, finding that since slavery was illegal in Italy, she had actually been free since 1885. She eventually joined the order and was forever forgiving toward her earlier captors because without them she would not have encountered Christ.

Painfully shy as a child, Jen was unable to communicate with anyone outside her family except through drawing. Visual language was her first language and she never lost her passion for its ability to communicate for her. There was never a day she "decided" to become an artist. For Jen, there was just no other way to be. Jen Norton is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, with a Minor in Business. Jen worked as a Graphic Designer in the Silicon Valley where developing marketing communications materials helped push her from purely personal expression to full conversation. After a decade in that field, Jen left to pursue painting and raise her daughter. Everyday moments of faith, family and...
